About our school

Hunter River Community School prides itself as a model of best practice in the education of students with special needs.

All members of the learning support team are involved in a collaborative process to develop educational programs which satisfy individual needs and learning styles of students.

The school provides an environment in which positive learning enhances self esteem and personal growth. Quality education programs across all curriculum areas are presented in attractive and stimulating learning environments.

A wide range of opportunities for our students to participate in sport, arts and crafts, music and community based activities ensures an appropriate balance to the curriculum.

Funding for new school announced!

It was recently announced that Hunter River Community School would receive funding for a new school under the federal government Building the Education Revolution SSP Residual Funding Program.

The school community are thrilled to receive this long awaited announcement. The scope of works is to include, ten classroom learning spaces with acessible bathroom and kitchen facilities, administration buildings with office and meeting spaces, hydrotherapy swim spa facility, agricultural studies facility, multipurpose rooms and new playground infrastructure.

Students are expected to start at the new school at the beginning of the 2014 school year.
